Apple have announced that they will replace potentially faulty drives from iMac customers who had purchased iMacs in the last couple of months. Apple said in a statement that they discovered an issue affecting these 1TB Seagate Hard Drives, the systems affected were sold between May 2011 and July 2011.
Apple has said that a very small amount of these Hard Drives used in both 21.5 inch and 27 inch iMacs may fail under certain conditions.
the company has announced that they will be replacing the hard drives free of charge till July 23rd 2010.
apple has also taken it upon themselves to contact the customers involved that registered their product with a valid email address, any that didn’t can check on apples website by submitting your iMacs serial number in the replacement program.
To get your replacement drive, visit an apple store near you or an (AASP) Authorised apple service provider, make sure you make an appointment and make sure you back up your hard drive before you go to get the replacement as apple will not back it up for you.
